Jun 20, 1864...according to Ancestry World Tree records and also Floyd County records, Stephen is the son of Jesse Pratt and Barbara...assuming Barbara Simmons Pratt. The problem with this is that other records indicate that Barbara Simmons Pratt died on October 17, 1862 in the Floyd County Diptheria Epidemic...so it would be impossible for her to have a child in 1864. Can anyone clear up this confusion? Additionally, there is a child listed in the same Ancestry World Tree records born to Jesse Pratt and his 2nd wife, Mary Jane Pendleton by the name of Joseph Pratt. The records indicate that Joseph was born 12 Aug 1863, however, these same records show a marriage date for Jesse and Mary Jane as Dec 1863...4 months after Joseph's birth. While this would be common today...I don't believe it would have happened in 1863. I cannot find a marriage record for Jesse and Mary Jane verifying their marriage date...Can anyone help me to figure out this particular mess? I would like to try to stop perpetuating these errors!!
