    1. [VAFLOYD] Everette Early Agee b. 13 Aug 1864 in Little River
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: CambAngst Surnames: Agee, Sweeney, Robertson, Thomas Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.floyd/1949/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Everette was my great-great grandfather. He was the son of William M Agee and Nancy Robertson and married a Minerva E Sweeney, daughter of Edmund Sweeney and Adeline Thomas. Both Minerva and Everette died young; she in February of 1891 and he in April of the same year. I've been told a very interesting but wholly unsubstantiated story about his death, which goes as follows. Minerva died either while giving birth to my great aunt Ella Mae Agee or shortly thereafter. Everette was said to have been caught in bed with another man's wife and shot dead. Needless to say, this was never a story that my great-grandmother, Gypsie Gaye Agee, told at the family picnic! I would be very interested in any information that anyone has about Everette and Minerva and their tragically short lives. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you would like to reply to them, please click on the Message Board URL link above and respond on the board.

    3. I appreciate all the kindness shown by my extended family in the last few days. I probably shouldn't have said anything, but my feelings were on my sleeve. I am going to try to move on. and I will NOT remove the photo. I may move it to another location on the page if I get another unknown photograph. I believe we are doing a good thing, shareing and showing our love for one-another through the good and bad. Bonnie is right. Barabra would have found something positive in this whole thing. I have found something great also. I am going to work harder and have less time to read mail from people who want attention. If that's what she wanted, she sure got the point. We all love each other as family, and "noone" can abuse the "MoM". Thank you all. Now i'm going over to the Franklin County webpage and add photos from our friend Ann B. StJohn . She sent me photos from 8 cemeteries. When Janice has completed scanning the Vest Cemetery i'll add it to Floyd Website and I have LEMON deeds and marriages to add to Botetourt. On March 12, we meet to plan the Botetourt Genealogy Fair, On March 15, we'll be hosting the Bedford Genealogy Class in Fincastle for a tour of the town, a visit to the courthouse, and refreshments and a tour of the Fincastle Library, on Mar 17, i'm going on a Bus trip to the Library of Virginia and in April 3,4, & 5 the Friends of the Fincastle Library will have a Book Sale to fund our Summer Reading Programs. As you see I'm too busy to eat sour apples. LOL Rena

    3. Rena I agree with the rest of the list.. Evidently this very rude person does not know the shoes you had to fill when you took over and what a great job you are doing. Just know that no one is perfect and everyone is allowed one or two bad days but it sounds like this person just had to put someone down. Thats a shame. Thats whats wrong with this world we are always ready to judge someone without knowing all the facts. You DO a perfect and great job. I know it has been hard taking over the way you had too but don't let one stupid person make you feel bad. We are very thankful to have you and I know Barbara is saying,"Now Rena just forget it and dont worry about her." Remember girl we love you and thanks for all your hard work. 3. Carol, I've happened on some of my research also, that gave me no credit but I am hoping that someday, somehow, someone will see it and tell me all about Grandpa's two brothers who remain elusive. 2. Regarding things about a person's family on the Inter Net------I found an up to date down to the last most recently born child in perfect genealogical order on my family by accident in Google and realized that a relative had published it to Google after getting the info from a cousin of mine. Because I had done all the work and she was taking credit for it, as well as putting it on the Web, publicly; I was a tad bit upset. People had given me info on their family that was up to date and I had assured them I would never put it on public display and there it was in living breathing black and white. Technically, it was my fault for sharing it with anyone. Once info is in print and out of your hands in today's world it is apparently fair game. It is not the amateur genealogist but only identity theives who would misuse personal info. But info on living people should be kept off the web for security reasons anyway. Once we are dead we are fair game. Nevertheless I would give my eye teeth to get into the 1940 Census data. No one on this list abuses any info. Maybe that person complaining was just crabby that day. cjs **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. (http://money.aol.com/tax?NCID=aolprf00030000000001)

    3. I want to add my voice to the support, love, and respect for Rena, and all that she does for the Floyd family, this list, and the Floyd county website. I hope that we can outweigh that one voice of descension in your mind and heart. Edgar is right. This person needs our prayers. Something is very wrong that she doesn't see the good work being done here. Her eyes and heart need to be softened, and opened, to see the love we all have for our families here, whether they are present or past, or seven times removed! Kat, I collect inspirational quotes to use in the family history classes I teach, and to save for my own history book. May I have your permission to use the following one of yours? "I personally know the THRILL of finding that burial place of a long lost ancestor, way out in a tiny cemetery, in the middle of nowhere and being able to pull the weeds away from the headstone. More than once, I have knelt by a grave site and said, "You are not lost. You live on in me."" I have felt that way also and it is just so indescribable, the feeling of connecting to another soul. Thanks, Kat. ~~~Jeanne On 3/7/08, fulcher <fulcher@gdsys.net> wrote: > > Perhaps this angry person just doesn't understand the study > of genealogy and what we do here. > >
