Thanks Dorrine, Thurston, and Dusty, I appreciate your information. I descend from Beaufort Howel gg, Winfield g and Robert Adam my grandfather. Beaufort did make it to Kansas according to the Kansas census. In 1880 Beaufort, sons Henry D and Phillip L, grandchildren Susan, George B, and Beaufort ( who I believe MAY be Chaplain's children) and David N and wife Ellen are in Neosho County, Kansas. A lady in Iola, Ks is checking cemetary books for me to see if he is buried there. Several of the Howell's stayed in this Southeastern part of Kansas. Is Susannah and/ or David buried in Floyd or Montgomery county? I would like more infomation on the Uncle Maynard Hylton book. Also are there other books etc. available? Thank you all so much. Pat Howell McKinley
Thurston, I descend from David and Susannah's other son Isaac b. 1807 Floyd. I have seen Maynard Hyltons book for sale at the Floyd High School craft show. Although I didn't have the funds at the time, I plan on purchasing one. Can you tell me what is in the two different supplements that can also be purchased? Carol, I see that that Carol has already posted his address and phone #. I bought this book a couple of years ago at the price of $42.50 from Elza's sister in law who lived in Indian Valley. She has since passed away (Nov 07) and her house is up for sale. Can you believe it? Elza comes to Indian Valley the first Sunday of August for the family reunion. He usually has several books with him. Do you live in Virginia? I would imagine that shipping is costly these days. just resending for those of you that search raleigh co wv Clarence
I have some miscellaneous David Howell info as my 6th ggrandmother was born to David and Sussannah Hylton Howell. She was Nancy Howell Rigney who was married in 1810 in Montgomery to Isham (not David as shown below) Rigney and lived most of her life in Floyd and Carroll Co.'s . Over the years, as the boundaries changed , so did her address, - not I think from moving so much as from the boundaries themselves moving. None of the info concerning anyone but Nancy Howell Rigney ( my direct ancestor) is confirmed - and is an accumulation of info retrieved from books, Ancestry.com and the internet. A good example of how things can get confused is the last (3) notation below in which someone has posted that my Nancy was born in 1800 - which is completely inaccurate as I have her father's sworn statement that she was wed in Montgomery in 1808 and her first child (children and their birth years also sworn to) was born 1809. I have other sworn statements as to her husband's name being Isham/Isom - as he was killed in the War of 1812 and Nancy collected a pension for herself and her three legitimate small children, Jinsy (Female) David (Male) and Alexander (Male). Nancy would later have two more children Elijah (male and my 5th ggrandfather) and Henley C Rigney. Although these children bore the Rigney name - it was not possible that Nancy's husband Isham/Isom sired them. Perhaps a brother? Perhaps they were simply given the name to curtail embarassment? Hope these points help someone. Dusty Smith 1.) Grayson County was established from Wythe County, VA, in 1792. Wythe was established from Montgomery County in 1789/90. I am looking for anyone who may know anything about the Kinzie Family of Botetourt County and Floyd County. They had a daughter Nancy E. Kinzie married LuCalvin Wickham both of whom were my great great grandparents. Nancy was born on January 3, 1811. They were married August 30, 1838 in Botetourt County. It is my belief that Nancy's parents were Daniel Kinzie and Elizabeth Perry. Both Nancy and LuCalvin are bruied in Red Oak Grove Brethren Cemetery in Floyd County. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me with the ancestors or Descendants of these people. I forgot to say that I understand at least some of the folks may be buried in the Daleville Cemetery and may be related to the Winger family. I also understand that there is a CD available with the Kinzie family on it. Please any help.
