Hi, Can I ask for help with this family? Came across this census record that would suggest that Bethany E Reynolds Hylton lived past the date of death given in cemetery records. I have a 29 Jan 1926 death date for her, with burial at Indian Creek Cem. Then saw this 1930 census record that looks like her living at age 88 with son Elisha Hylton. Thanks for your assistance. Thanks, Rena. The photos are great. Photos like this would be a better record if they were dated and geotagged (GPS coordinates). I've gotten into that within the last year and it is especially good for photos made currently to record old buildings and home places and cemeteries, etc. I realize that everyone is not into geotagging but most cameras today allow date stamping automatically. If not, there is free software available on the Internet that will use the information embedded in a digital photo to add the date to an image file. Here is a free date-stamper program: http://smallrepairs.50webs.com/Photos%20Date%20Stamper/ Very easy to use. Here is a sample photo with date and GPS coordinates added: http://jerrylester.com/posting/DSC00152-gps%20Merged.jpg Jerry Lester > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Message: 1 > Date: Sun, 29 Mar 2009 22:02:22 -0400 > From: "Rena" <[email protected]> > Subject: [VAFLOYD] On the subject of Alum Ridge Photos added.. > To: <[email protected]> > Message-ID: <[email protected]> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" > > http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~vafloyd/FloydCountySchools.html<http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/%7Evafloyd/FloydCountySchools.html> > > I have just added some photos of Alum Ridge School provided by Cecil Hill. > > He tells me "I attached two pictures of the old Alum Ridge School where I > attended the first five years of school. Just take Alum Ridge road off Route 8 into the village which is only an oldcountry store (on your right)and the Brethern Church (uphill on the left). The sign for Alum Ridge (community) is posted there. Chuck Reed Thanks, Chuck, but the map I'm looking at only has numbered roads on it, so > I can't find an "Alum Ridge road." I found Alum Ridge school on Hwy 750, > near 739. You turn off of Duncan Chapel Road onto Ambrose Park Road. Cross the creek/bridge and continue on the dirt road. The park is on the right. You can't miss it. Kat, the Broad Shoals was a place where you could ford Little River from Floyd Co. into Montgomery Co..the Riverbend Nursery (a large nursery) is located there now....also there was a Broad Shoals school back then................. My wifes aunt has a 50 acre farm in that area, (which is also in the Alum Ridge district) and she told us that there was a Fulcher family that lived over the next hill from where she lived..her old home is still standing, and she comes from Roanoke where she now lives and spends a week or two in the summertime..her old house was called Cherry Hill....it was a mansion in its day.....had 7 porches on it....there is a pic of the house on the FCVA website or on Ole Pauls photos..I cant remember which...it was built by Darius Williams who was the aunts father..........the aunt is now 85 years old........her name is Trinkle Thompson............Paul keep the mail comin' to Ole Paul
Paul The trap is shaped like a funnel in mostly sandy soil. The Antlion is down in the bottom out of sight. When the ant gets in the trap he tries to crawl out but the sand just makes it impossible. He finaly gets to the bottom and the Antlion grabs the ant with his claws. Google has very good info and great pictures of the trap and the Antlion. When we were kids we would get close and say , "doodle bug, doodle bug your house is on fire, come out and eat bread and butter." ha ha.
