Thank you , Rena. This seems to indicate that what we all had thought originally was correct...the son of James and Tobitha Gardner is the one who married Susanna Webb and then as a widower, married Delphia Wade (glad to know the correct spelling of Adelphia)... I hadn't realized there was another Alexander Gardner of similar place and time..so it really threw me off... I can live with the Alexandria vs Alexander gravestone mystery....I assume that is his stone....and his date of death. And the other Alexander Gardner who married Elizabeth Sowers would the one buried at the Zion Lutheran Church. He is listed in census as a carpenter as is the one who served in the 54th VA... I can probably find out if they both served; I imagine they both did so. Thanks Debbie
Congratulations to all of you who are celebrating 50 and 60 years of marriage. That is a wonderful accomplishment.....here's wishing you many many more years together!!! Paul, I am doing fine, just trying to keep my blood sugars low, and that is hard for me to do at this time of year. I love fresh fruit, and we have so much of it around here in Modesto. Love fresh strawbeeries!! Had a Sugar Free ice cream bar yesterday and my sugar went sky high. I said to myself if this is sugar free......why is this doing this to me. I guiess I can not eat the sugaar free thjngs either.....so that leaves me with only salads and lemon juice. Do not mean to bitch at you but, you askeds. Other than that I am trying to stay cool on these HOT days. Our granddaughyt arrived home from college today Jessica (granddaughter) has been in Austiin, Texas going to St. Edward U. she will graduate this next year. She is majoring in Political Science and History. In June the last part we are getting together, (my sister and her family, my 3 bgrothers and thier families) that will be about 40 of us. We thought we should do tis as our children and grandchildren do not know each other. This will be a 3 day event. Looking forwrd to this. Should be fun!! How are you and your wife doing? Think about her and remembedr how you take care of her and do a very good job. She is very lucky to have a hujsband thast takes such care. Linda, Now I see an Elizabeth Sowers who also married one Alexander Gardner of about the same age; perhaps I once knew this, but then I confused the two men..will l have a closer look at the census and marriage records...I'm sure I will also see your Alex. Marion Gardner; although the cemetery records still don't make sense to me. I wonder if the gravemarker in the photos at Alexander Gardner Cem. in Floyd was meant to be for Alexander rather than Alexandria..,,especially since the two wives, Delphia and Susanna are buried there..and the Alexander Gardner buried at Zion Lutheran Church Cem, might be the one born 1823, who married Elizabeth Sowers and the gravestone is in error on the dates? Linda...you are at least a double Quesenberry !! Thanks for your reply. Deb Debbie, Do not know if this will be any help to you, but I will throw this little bit out to you.
