Seven grandsons and one granddaughter?! Don't spoil her entirely rotten! 8~) Reminds me of this small-town doctor I used to know. When he had his granddaughter, he was totally enamored of her and proceeded to spoil her from the first. An old friend teasingly asked, "Doc, what'll you do when she gets to be sixteen and says, 'Granddaddy, I want a new car'?" Doc looked at him square in the eye and said without hesitation, "What color?" Carolyn
Opaldeen, thanks so much. You're right, they are each one a blessing. And I'm about to be blessed with a great-grandchild. Beginning another generation of blessings! 8~) Carolyn HALE BRUCE
Hi, Ken, I knew there must be some reason that I didn't put the "announcement" up sooner, but then, Conall is my fifth grandchild, not my first. 8~) Made me an old hand at the game... but the thrill is just as great. A 21-lb. newborn would be something alright. I meant to put his Floyd ancestral surnames up on the list, but forgot to... see, there's always something one forgets or confuses... The Floyd CoVA surnames from which Conall descends include AGNEW, CANNADAY, PETERS, UNDERWOOD, and VEST, and probably others... Thanks for the good wishes. Carolyn
Congratulations Carolyn, I see you got the weigh correct. We have three grandson and when our first granddaughter was born 5 1/2 years ago, I was holding her shortly after birth and she reached up and touched my mustache...she just stole my heart. I got so excited I sent e-mail to all our friends informing them of her birth and weighting in at 21 lbs. When the replies started coming in saying the worlds record, biggest ever, Wow, I feel sorry for the mother, etc, I realized my mistake, she was 7 lbs and something and 21 inches long. Her name is Johanna and she was with us at the lunch in Floyd few weeks ago. She was in some of the photos. Her mom dad rode their Harley and she rode with us. Mistakes happen, especially when excited. If I had know the joys of grandparent hood i would have started there and if I had in my early 20s I would have been able to keep up with the 7 boys and new little girl grandchild much easier. carol In a message dated 6/10/2009 3:34:36 P.M. I am keeping a scrapbook and try to get as many Funeral cards as I can, then (if possible) I paste a picture of the individual with the card. I do this with obits. No thanks Cheryl, speaking of crawly spiderwebby things When I started tackling my basement I found I was not alone...this very large furry brown spider came crawling across the floor towards me (did I mention I am Arachnophobic) I stood there wondering what to do, where to run...just knowing he and his entire clan were surrounding me..lol I took a deep breath, gathered my courage and threw a large bucket over him/her/it....when hubby got home from work I proudly announced I had imprisoned the guardian he placed in the basement to keep me from cleaning it.. (27 years together he knows and enjoys ribbing me about this fear, says I scream like a girl) His reply "Good help is so hard to find" Lucky for him...I couldn't get to my rolling pin :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "C PETRO" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, June 09, 2009 10:37 PM Subject: Re: [VAFLOYD] Quiet !!!! Speaking of cleaning, I have everything under the stars in my basement BUT it is flooded from all the hard rains we have had..I have a pump going down there and also a BIG fan blowing.... I had that K-Guard guttering installed on my house ..it is almost twice as big as regular guttering and sheds leaves like the plague as it has a top on it BUT when it pours the rain like we have had, the rain comes off the roof so fast that it shoots over the top of that guttering onto my back walk and then washes into my basement through the basement door......makes me want to get up there and remove the top of that guttering... Ole wet Paul keep the mail comin' to Ole Paul
When you all do all that cleaning, look for treasures and don't throw them OUT. I'm Looking for Funeral Memorial cards, Photos of Schools, People, Churches, and cemetery markers. We must not throw away HISTORY, it must be preserved. Rena

Nope, not for hire, if we get the last two walls done tomorrow, I hope I never see a paint brush again. Anyone who sits at a computer for a living should have most sense than to tackle this.
