    1. Re: Fauquier Heritage Society - Marshall, Virginia
    2. The Fauquier Co. Heritage Society in Marshall is now named the John Kenneth Gott Library. A good amount of the holdings were those accumulated by John Gott, a retired Librarian from the Fairfax Co. Virginia Schools. John collect genealogies of Fauquier Families over many years and so much of them are no longer in print and focus on the families from Fauquier Co. It has a great deal of vertical file material. John and Trip Russell worked together on many of the families. Triplett Russell never published his Triplett book. In one letter he says there were so many mistakes in it he no longer wanted to publish it.Many chapters of it are in the hands of interested parties. He and John co authored the Revolutionary War Book. I know of no plans to published Russell's work. I would caution those using his charts to look for the records that verify the relationships. They are useful as a guide. The Gott Library does not have a microfilm reader where you can view county records. They do have many one of a kind items and a visit to the area should include a day there. Marshall was at one time called Salem. It is where John Singleton Mosby centered his operations during the Civil War. It is not just a genealogical library. For those interested in the Triplett family a man by the name of William Anderson Hagey did quite a bit of work on them and corresponded with Trip. He passed a way a few years back and donated his papers to the Virginia Historical Society in Richmond. I as about them every time I go just to make sure they know they have a public. I know he donated money also there keep reminding them by asking about them. Margaret R.
