May I add my contribution to the growing list of early Fauquier residents with the given name of Bushrod? Bushrod Cox was born 9 Jan 1823 in Frederick Co VA; but his Grandparents, Samuel (1755-1828) and Elizabeth Cox were residents of Fauquier Co as early as 1782 (Fothergill, Virginia Taxpayers 1782-87.) I have found no intermarriage of my Cox family with the Bushrod or Washington families to account for the use of Bushrod as a given name. My current theory is that the prominence of the Bushrod family in the area gave rise to this naming--- due to a lack of any other ideas. Thanks for the Bushrod Family lineage. Karen Cox Gray
