I wonder if it connects somehow to the surname of Bushrod? I also have a first name of Armstead, another strange one! And I have seen the surname of Armstead from time to time. My Bushrod Alexander was born 2/7/1829 in VA but I do not have evidence of his mother. My Armstead Alexander was born 4/30/1836 in IN. His mother Dolly Foster married Rigby Alexander in Fauquier Co., VA 8/12/1833. There is evidence that my Rigby and Dolly did move to IN. Some researchers think my Rigby Alexander is really John Alexander who married Netty Creel 8/28/1809 in Fauquier Co., VA. Any ideas about this from anyone? I have never been able to find evidence of a first marriage for Rigby Alexander in Fauquier or surrounding counties. Found him listed on an 1813 personal tax list in Loudon County and on some census records. Could really use some help. Thanks, Jessie
