Jim, I know you've had other replies. But, I just recently did some digging on these folks and thought I'd chime in once before I go into Christmas hibernation.... The estate of Augustine SMITH Sr. was divided in 1781 between Joseph, Thomas, Matthew, John, James, William, Augustine Jr. (who m. Susannah Darnall), and the youngest who all happened to be sisters, Susannah, Anna and Elizabeth. There were three CHILTON brothers, George, Thomas and Joseph. They were the sons of John Chilton and Lettice Blackwell. George m. (1792) Mary Ball, d/o John. Thomas m. Jane Corbin, wrd/o John Blackwell. Joseph m. Ann Smith, d/o Thomas Smith, dec'd. (son of A. Sr. and Bro. of A. Jr.) The three CHILTON brothers had two sisters - Lucy, who married Wm. Ransdell, and Nancy, who married Augustine Smith (III). This Augustine Smith was the son of Thomas Smith, the son of Augustine Sr and the brother of Augustine Jr. I pieced this together with a variety of books containing extracts of records, such as Fauq. I am descended from a JAMES SMITH who was living in Montgomery Co., Va. about 1800. Does anyone have the line of the James Smith mentioned below? Could it be the same one?
