Dear Fauquier County, Virginia Genealogist, I do not want to sell them. Except to libraries at cost. Perhaps we could buy them and donate the copy to a library in the Northern Neck. I would be happy to donate a copy to the Heritage Society, Fauquier County Library, Library of Virginia, and the LDS Library in Salt Lake. My goal is to provide this information so that others do not have to spend a life time researching these families. Would a library down load them and bind them and put them in their library? I want to be sure that there are hard copies in the libraries. Could the Heritage Society sell them for a fund raiser? Could some one in Fauquier County, ask the powers in the Society to see if they are interested? Will post them on a web site and members of our mailing list could be able to down load them free. Atleast that is my plan, if the Fauquier Heritage Society does not want them. Can someone report to the list how the Heritage Society is raising money? Would they like to sell these books? Would the Heritage Society like our help? I would like for members of the list to proof read them. After they have been proof read I would like help numbering the pages and doing an every name index. Any volunteers? thanks Jim Burgess Fauquier County, Virginia USGENWEB -----Original Message----- From: Donna Guiffre [mailto:guiffre@comcast.net] Sent: Saturday, September 27, 2003 11:19 AM To: 'Jim Burgess' Subject: RE: Fauquier Familiy Booklets Jim, I would be interested in buying some of your books - are you interested in selling some? In 2001 I completed Cockrill Families of Northern Virginia which ended up being about 700 pages. Well Volume II Anderson, Cockrill, Moffett, Smith and Allied Families is about 800 pages. I lost about $500 on Volume I. I may be better off donating small books to Libraries in the Northern Neck, the Library of Virginia, LDS Library in Salt Lake. I would like to donate these books to the Heritage Society so that they could use them as a fund raiser, but apparently no one is interested. What are the ten best libaries in the Northern Neck? 1. Heritage Library in Marshall 2. Fauquier Public Library in Warrenton 3. Public Library in Culpeper 4. Balch Library in Leesburg 5. King George County Historical Society 6. Mary Washington Ball Library 7. Northumberland Historical Society 8. Richmond County Library - What would that be? 9. Stafford County Were would that be? 10. Westmorland Libary Where would that be. 11. Prince William County Public Library 12. Library of Virginia 13. LDS Library in Salt Lake City I want to keep the number of Libraries down to keep the cost down. It would be great if I could find volunteers to pay for each book to be donated to the above libraries. I will do it, but really cannot afford to bear all the expense. I believe I can get the books printed for about $6.00 to $12.00 per book with comb binding not including the freight. I have a friend who had a comb binding machine. This is just a guess! Here is what I am thinking in brief. I lost my old family web site, but would like to ressurect that web site and post the books on the web site. Perhaps I could get the libraries to pay for the books at this discount rate at cost so that I would not lose money. I do not want to make money. Most of the books are nearly complete. They do not have indexes. The pages are not numbered. I would like to have some help with proof reading and indexing. This is probably a 1 year project. Just wondering what you think. Books would be on the Moffett 80 pages, Smith 150 pages, Blackwell 100 pages, Eustace 40 pages , Minter 20 pages, Bailey 100 pages, Rosser 40 pages, Nevill 40 pages, Mott 60 pages, Waugh 70 pages, Doniphan 50 pages, Rowley 50 pages, Pages are approximate. Also I have been working on the Smith family from every county in the Northern Neck. That work is a real mess. Also I have another 60 families that I have a lot of information. I want to do the Blackwell family first. Any comments? thanks Jim Burgess Yes I am still crazy! ==== VAFAUQUI Mailing List ==== List problems?
