Hi Susan B., I am glad that the Wilson information helped you. I am sorry I failed to tell you about the Alexandria County, VA information because it is different from the other counties. The following is information that should help you. 1. (*) symbol indicates that only the name of the landowner was listed, with neither geographic information nor miles/direction from the courthouse provided. Some suspect that many of the (*) persons were nonresidents; however, no one truly knows. 2. Alexandria County, VA records for 1815 could not be located; so the information given is for a PARTIAL list of the 1817 Personal Property/Tithables list. The PART of Alexandria County that is given was only indicated to be "the country part of the county" and now is considered to be a part of Arlington County. 3. Source: "1815 Directory of Virginia Landowners (and Gazetteer) Volume Four: Northern Region" abstracted by Roger G. Ward; Iberian Publishing Company, Athens, Georgia; 1999 4. It is my understanding that Iberian Publishing Company has gone out of business; as others I know have tried to order a copy from them. The only other information I can offer in this regard is that Roger G. Ward lived somewhere in Lubbock, Texas in 1999. The Virginia Landowners comes in a series of five, Volumes 1 through 5. These volumes cover Central; South-central; Eastern; Northern, and Western Virginia. Mr. Ward abstracted the material from the original microfilm records that can be ordered from the Library of Virginia through interbranch loan at your local library for a period of two weeks borrowing time. 5. I suggest that if you find something you are interested in that you order the original document on microfilm and view it for yourself. Mr. Ward has done a marvelous job of abstracting the material; however, I have found a few errors plus when looking at the original record sometimes you can find out more. Best of luck in your search, Chocy
