All I know is I have a deed between John Wilson and his wife Elizabeth (signed Betsy) of Loudoun Co. 20 Apr. 1816/26 Aug 1816 - Sale of Property sold to Elijah Smith of Fauquier Co. This piece of property John Wilson bought from Thomas Whiting and wife Polly. John then sold it to Elijah Smith who in 1823 sold it John McCarter. The property is describes as follows: ....A lot containing a tan yard, bark house & other appurtenances, situated in Fauquier Co. Va near Hopewell, waters of Fornication Branch, Sinclair's Branch, a spring formerly called Leaches Spring and the property of Wm. BLT (Belt)?, it being the same property once possessed by Thomas Whiting, signed by John Wilson and Betsy Wilson wit: Burr Powell JP and A. Gibson JP both of Loudoun Co. Va. received by Daniel Withers CC. NOW...... I found yesterday this: Dec. 29, 1797 Deed between Thomas Whiting of Fauq. Co. and Thomas Leach. Witnesses: Joshua Owens, John Wilson, Mason Owens. Also, Dec. 26, 1796 WM. Skinker of PW Co. Parish of Leeds of one part and Thomas Whiting of Fauq.Co. of the other part. In consideration of the love and affection which he bears to said Thomas Whiting, his son-in-law.... all remaining moity which sai Wm. Skinker now holds of that tract or parcel of land in co. of Fauq. in the Tenancy and occupation of the Leaches together with the land bought of Willougby .....; Nathan Sinclair together with the moity of the Mill and Mill Lott on which the said Thomas now lives all which tracts of land together with Mill and Mill Lott and said Wm. Skinker hath hereto by indenture recorded in Co. Court of Fauq. reserving to said Wm. Skinker nevertheless the rent upon Sinclair land during Wm's. life. Also makes over to Thomas Whiting a negro woman named Doll and her children Hannah, James, Peter, and Elija. Wm. Skinker made advance to his daughter Polly before her marriage to said Thomas. So this is probably the same piece of property described above. See the SINCLAIR and LEACH references. The reason I am interested in these men and their wives.... in connection with John Wilson and wife Betsy is this could ...... maybe...... be my John Wilson. The SMITH and WHITING names carried down to Betsy's niece Lucy Chinn who married William Berkley Noland. His mother was Sarah Chinn m. Thomas Johnson Noland. William's great uncle Lloyd Noland was married to (1) Ann Whiting Powell and (2) Elizabeth Winn Smith Lloyd's marriage to Ann Whiting Powell produced Burr Powell Noland that m. Susan Wilson. Lloyd's marriage to Elizabeth Winn Smith produced Noble Beveridge Noland. Elizabeth Smith's mother was Sarah Beveridge SISTER to William Beveridge that married Lucy Chinn, aunt of the Lucy Chinn that married William Berkley Noland. NOW, Lucy Chinn (Beveridge) is the sister also of my Elizabeth Chinn (Wilson) wife of John. I have no information on John Wilson's family so during my research I have come upon these allied families and am hoping....... that the Susan Wilson above that married Burr Powell Noland is related to my John Wilson. She was born about the time of Burr which was 1818. She would have to be a neice or something to my John as he died in 1821. I'm hoping someone is researching these people and can help on her family. Everyone confused NOW?
