Hello, I wonder if two siblings' names ring a bell: Rhoda C. Ferguson, born August 1849 William E. Ferguson, born 1845. According to the 1870 and 1860 census returns, they were born in Virginia to the father born in Massachusetts and to the mother born in Virginia. Rhoda C. Ferguson married to Richard Edward Brydon in about 1860. They lived in Allegheny Co (now Garrett Co., Maryland. Before 1870, they moved to Baltimore City, Balto Co., Maryland and had three sons and three daughters. Living with them was Rhoda's bachelor brother William E. Ferguson, a commissioner in Baltimore. Richard E. Brydon and his brother William Alfred Brydon were born in Rome, New York, and lived in New Orleans, Louisiana, before settling in Maryland in or before 1860. The name "Rhoda" Ferguson was not common in Virginia in 1800s, but it is still hard for me to find her in VA's 1850 census. Maybe she was born in VA and moved to another state. Meaning I have to search for her in each state. Maybe in Massachusetts for a while where her father's parents lived.
