What I would really like to know is where these ancient rent rolls or quit rent records are today for Fauquier and nearby counties, where the originals are, who owns them; and how to interpret these very strange & atypical entries like this: JOHN OF WETHERS JEFFRIES VA Fauquier County Rent Rolls 1770 I haven't been able to find anything that looks good so far, in the FHL or in Library of VA, but it may be I don't recognize the right thing.
