    3. Ginny; Thank you very much for all your effort in posting this information. I have some of it, but not all, and every bit counts. If there is anyone interested in the BARTLETT family's brief stay in Fauqier Co, VA (1768-1785), I'd like to correct some of the printed info: 1777 Will was for Sanford CARROLL (not Carvell) - one interesting item is that it was witnessed by James BARTLETT who may have been Thomas BARTLETT's brother (both being born in Richmond Co, VA). The James who married 1790 Sarah PHILLIPS wasn't born until early 1770s. John BARTLETT married 1780 Sarah BARKLEY, dau of William BARKLEY [whose parent's I'd really like to learn[ The Thomas BARTLETT who married 1777 Sarah CARROLL was Thomas Sr c1730-1806 (as his 2nd wife, Anne, having died a few years earlier, leaving Thomas with 10 children, only 4 of whom had married.) The 1748 acres Thomas bought of Judson Cooledge in 1772 for 400 pounds Sterling, was just to the NW of The Plains. Thomas and Ann sold much of it, keeping 538 acres, 104 of which he later gifted to his son William, and then sold the rest in 1784, before moving to Harrison Co, VA in 1785. I'll have to contact Robin Bryson... Thomas BARTLETT bc1705; will probated 6 Oct 1783 in Lunenburg Par, Richmond Co (still in Richmond Co); lived where the Richmond Co town of Newland is today. She is mixing up this Thomas BARTLETT with the Thomas BARTLETT who lived in King George Co, married the widow Elizabeth JONES, and left a will there in 1748 - so could not have been the same as the Thomas BARTLETT of Richmond Co. Thomas & Elizabeth in Richmond Co had James and Anis births recorded in the North Farnham Par Register, and the death (not birth) of Frances in 1727 (probably died at birth/as infant). I believe the other children were also born to Elizabeth because every child's family has an Elizabeth and no Catherine. Catherine was certainly a second wife. Of the children of Thomas and Elizabeth in Richmond Co: John married Anne SETTLE (dau of neighbor Henry) and went up the Rappa R. to Culpeper Co by 1750 (became John BARTLEY); Thomas also married an Anne (maiden name UNK) abt 1750, and they were in Fau! quier Co by 1768 (where were they 1750-68??); Elisha and the daughters all stayed in Richmond Co; I believe James went to Fauquier Co, but there are only a few records to indicate this possibility - I would love to find more of his family; and no one knows where Joseph went [although someone with a 25/25 DNA match to me can trace his BARTLETT line back to SC in 1790...] I am the author of the BARTLETT Family News back in 1970s. I've tweaked a few of the estimated birth years a little and now have Sanford BARTLETT b late 1777/early 1778 - he died in 1817 Winchester, VA, having served as officer in War1812. Also William BARTLETT b1756 is now recognized by DAR as a Patriot for public service in Fauquier Co (along with his brothers John and Benjamin who were in uniform) Always looking for descendants of this family... and more records - particularly 1750-1768... From "Bartlett Family News" Issues 1-6 Mentions his wife Ann [Settle]. States they stayed on farm in Fauquier Co until after Rev War. The account book of Col. William Edwards shows a certificate granted to Thomas Bartlett of Fauquier Co for 33 bushels of Rye. There is a D.A. R. certificate for two of Thomas's sons; John and Benjamin Bartlett. Anne passed away sometime prior to October, 1784 for at that time, deeds in Fauquier Co show wife Sarah [Carroll] selling remainder of their land. 1785 Tithable Lists shoed Thomas Bartlett Sr. and sons Benjamin, John, Robert and Thomas Jr. living with him. The last record of Sarah Bartlett was 1800 when she signed a deed with him. Thomas signed several deeds to his sons in 1805 and 1806. There is an inventory of his estate recorded in Jan. 1807. There is a postscript from the author of Bartlett Family News at the bottom of above page. He is gratified his work is still being used. He states inf about 1796 record is only error he sees. He has determined that Thomas Bartlett b ca 1705, d ca 1783 of Richmond Co VA is the older Bartlett and his will was dated 1767 but not recorded until 1783. One of his other sons, John Bartlett, married Anne Settle and moved abt 1760 to Culpeper Co VA and then abt 1791 to Fluvanna Co where he died in 1807. Most of his records refer to him as John Bartley and his descendants use Bartley spelling.
