Marriage bonds were issued in VA and in this one it mentions "license hath issued" This one was handwritten and had the following info in it. Frances Marriage Bond for Raleigh and Elizabeth Fauquier Co., VA Know all men by these present that we Rawleigh Taylor and Matthew Waddell are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency Henry Lee Esqr, Governor of VA in the sum of fifty dollars which payment will and truly be made to the said Lee and his successors for the use of the Commonwealth. We bind ourselves, our heirs, Exors & Admors jointly & severally, firmly by these presents Sealed with our seals and dated this 10th day of Sept 1792 The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be solemnized between Rawleigh Taylor and Elizabeth Waddell for which a License hath issued.
