    3. Good day, everyone! Can anyone tell me if Elizabeth (Betsy) Marshall d/o James P(ede?) Marshall b. 8/11/1808-1810 in Fauquier Co., was related to Justice Marshall? If so, how? Betsy married a Balthrope & moved to MO. I am a descendant. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Barbara Missouri

    3. Greetings Barbara..and the list: Nancy Chappelear Baird, in the journals she edited, "JOURNALS OF AMANDA VIRGINIA EDMONDS, Lass of the Confederacy", pg. 251 writes this: "James Pede MARSHALL, 26, teacher, son of John and Elizabeth (ADAMS) MARSHALL of Clarke Co. and Lucy W Settle, daughter of Abner and Mary (Kile) Settle were married 14 Dec 1859. ..... The Marshalls lived on Blue Ridge in Ashby's Gap, their home being now owned by the late State Senator Harrison Mann" Her source was (FCM) FCM is "Fauquier County Marriages" written by Nancy C Baird and John K Gott. I don't know if there is a relationship through the settles or not. Its not my Marshall line nor are the Settles my line. I don't think Pede Marshall is of the same line as the Chief Justice; but I may be wrong.
