Nancy Upshaw Hi, all, I'm glad to see the post about William Allen's deed, and so I am prompted to ask.... If any of you have similar deeds from Fauquier or its various "parent" counties which pertain to Fauquier properties, I'd appreciate it if you could send them along to me. I am in the final stages of platting all the Fauquier land grants and if you have any info that would help me fill in any blanks or tie up a few loose ends, I would appreciate it. Sometimes seeing a slightly later deed for a property can help place a very early grant more easily. If you know that a grant is missing for a property but have a later metes and bounds description of it with information as to the chain of title, that would be especially helpful in finalizing the map. This project is a continuation of the work of Beth Mitchell, John Gott and Triplett Russell. Much of the work for it was done by them before I took it up. It will eventually be published and will primarily benefit the Fauquier Preservation and Heritage Society. Most of the material is coming from the Northern Neck Land Grants plus other documents they found. If you have any unusual grants or deeds that may help this project please send me at least the reference, if not a transcript. I am only interested in the earliest documents pertaining to a property, so if a tract was granted in 1715, please don't send me an 1815 document. Anything up to about 20 years after the initial grant would be appropriate, unless I email you for further information. If you have a Northern Neck grant but want to make sure I have it, please send me only the reference, as I likely already have that information. I'm primarily looking for documents that are in other county files or have been found in places like court cases, etc., which may not be recorded in the normal places.
