Simon Cornwell was the son of Peter Cornwell and Sarah Bowlin/Bowling Diana Shumate was the daughter of Daniel Shumate and Tabitha Dodson. After Peter Cornwell and Tabitha Dodson Shumate died, Daniel Shumate married Sarah Bowlin Cornwell, widow of Peter Cornwell. So Simon and Diana were step brother and sister.
