Any diary from the Civil War era is of interest, even though the people are not known. My grandfather was a Captain in the artillery with the army during the retreat from Yorktown. He has written about the terrible mud and having to push the cannon because the horses could not pull them alone. It would be interesting to look up the records for that period and associate the diary with the maneuvers. I don't have time to do it.
