Gott and I have records from Virginia Library Chancery Suits and Marriage Records on these two, census records. June, I'll share my thoughts with you - Diadamia possibly didn't know how old she was for the 1850 census, or her husband didn't...one never knows who gave the data to the census taker. He would have been about 34/35 when they married in 1810, possibly had already lost a wife, I would suspect she was really about 55 when the census was taken. That might have been a good guess! Jones, 29, farmer, born in Va. Roberta J., 17, born in Va., keeping house James W., 3, born in Va. Hugh Ward, 1, born in Va. Diademia, 76, keeping house, $1000/$170, born in Va., cannot read or write So this would mean she was born about 1795/96, so was 14 or 15 in 1810. John W. was listed as being 12 on the 1850 census, so he would only have been 22 on this 1870 census. Maybe he couldn't count either. Lorraine would be a good contact person for you and Rose.
