William Heale and John Hathaway[John  had the upper part] shared District 2. It started at the Goose Creek Church and went up thye east side of District 1 to the Loudoun line, along it to the Prince William line, down it to the "Thorofare of Broad Run" [Thoroughfare Gap], thence with the Briskett or Little Knobbly Mountain to  Jonathan Newhouse, [New Baltimore?] from thence with Randell's road to the Parish line to the Quantico Road [Rt. 605 at the S end of Baldwins Ridge], and finally up that road [to its intersection with Rt 17 near Bethel and N of 17] to the beginning. It comprised the northeast corner of the county. Alcock  Volume 2 In 1764, 1765 and 1766 Gilson Foote was appointed by the court to take the tithables for the southern district of the county. This district was the part of the county that Thomas Marshall had censuses in 1759. Evidently Foote's list for 1766 coincided with the "first part" of Marshall's. Almost all of the persons named both on it and in 1759 were in the part of Marshall's district.  Foote's total of 420 tithables compared reasonably with the 400 on that first part of Marshall's list.  However, in 1759 Foote himself and a few others were on Marshall's second part.  Probably, both Marshall and Foote were helped by another person in preparing the list for the northern part of the Southern district. That part for 1766 has been lost. Thanks, June. Much of your information I did not have. I believe the George O'Brien who married Nancy Leachman to be my 3Xgreat grandfather, that Enoch who married Nancy Barker and Elijah who married Darcus Leachman to be his brothers, and the Enoch O'Bryant in the Tithable and Personal tax list to be his father. Peter was probably Enoch's brother. I am looking for more proof for all of these. Again many thanks!
