This is from the Rootsweb site: Spam is not welcome on any list and it causes many problems. The massive loads these mass emails produce can cause the computers at RootsWeb to grind to a halt. We use spam filters to help stop these, but occasionally, some will get through. Sometimes, a person will subscribe to the list, send spam, then unsubscribe before you or the admin is aware that it happened. We call these "hit and run spammers." Some spammers will "spoof" or fake the return address to make it look like it came from RootsWeb when it really did not. When you get spam, please do not report it to your ISP. Unless they check the full headers to see that we were innocent, RootsWeb may be the site that is blocked by your ISP. We ask your patience when this happens.
