    3. Hi Dick, James Graves was born ca 1722 in Spotsylvania Co., Va. His will is in 1781 in Culpeper County, Va. He married Sarah unknown. James parents are John Graves born ca 1685 in Gloucester Co., Va. and died in 1772 in Spotsylvaia County. His wife is Frances unknown. I do have some deeds, etc but that is as far as I have gotten on this line. Marianne [email protected] wrote: Hi Marianne, In your Jun 18 response to Amanda, you reference Richard Parks marriied Mary Graves, a daughter of James Graves born ca 1722 in Spotsylvania Co. who moved to Culpeper where his will is filed in 1781. I don't see many Graves posts and few listings on Rootsweb World Connect forum. I would like to mention a dead end for one of our Fletcher DNA group. In the Moses Fletcher sub-group, we have 12 participants with close or exact matches, and their paper trails point back to Fauquier, Montgomer Co (200 miles farther south along the BlueRidge) and even into Wilkes Co NC and some farther south. Moses b ~pre 1735, married in Stafford in 1757, is the oldest paper trail, but not the most recent common ancestor, that must be one or two generations farther back. One of our participants, sponsored by Trudi Fletcher Florian, who does not seem to be actively on line for the past 3 years, goes back to a George W. Fletcher (b. c1813-17) who was married to an Ann C. Groves. This could have been in Fauquier, Culpeper or points much farther south. We have not found any leads thru the Personal Property tax, but we know we have a DNA match. So if you have seen a connection for this Groves/Graves; I would appreciate an e-mail. I solidly support and recommend the Y-chromosome DNA program, tested by Family Tree DNA, and then coordinated by family run family groups. At any rate, have a great day and good hunting. Richard J. "Dick" Fletcher [email protected] Our Fletcher results at: http://www.genealogy.fletcher.net/Major%20Fletcher%20Lines.htm and the Family Tree DNA site is at: http://www.familytreedna.com/ Then check out their Projects Tab to get to other family DNA programs. ************** Gas prices getting you down?
