Lancaster County Court 6th of August 1653, page 62 at Court. Certificate of land is granted to John Edwards for his owne transportation. Certificate of land is granted to Epaphroditus Lawson [decd] for a Deed & whereas there are several specialtyes in his Custody due to ye sd Estate, the Court hath ordered yet. etc. * Lancaster County Court 6th of August 1653, p 63 at Court Whereas it appears yet; Wm. Thatcher hath contrary to ye known Laws of this County unlawfully killd certaine marked hogs & for as much as Elyas Edmonds haveing impleaded ye sd Thatcher for certaine hogs by him lost heare or about ye time ye sd Thatcher killd two hogs & he refusing to show ye Overseer of ye hogs soe killd & likewise offeringe satisfacon in pt to ye sd Edmonds for his hogs soe lost. It is ye opinion of yer Court yet, notwithstanding ye sd Edmonds cannot positively prove ye hogs soe kild as belonginge to him hot haveing sufficiently pudcd yt, ye sd Thatcher did kill marked hogs whereby he is guilty of stealinge, the Court hath advised him to pay to ye sd Edmonds or his assignees 1000 pounds of tobacco with cost of suite.
