    1. [VAFAUQUI] Request to Make concerning Queries with More Detail
    2. Rootsweb seems to be full of newbies these days, who don't understand these guidelines for queries: 1) People from all over the globe may be reading your messages. I have corresponded with folks from other English-speaking countries such as England, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. No doubt there are others with whom I have not corresponded. Surprisingly, some of these folks know more about your families than you do!!!! 2) A query is practically useless unless it contains three elements: a) surname, of course b. DATE - hardly any of the messages I read these days have dates. Parts of Virginia have been around for over 400 years now. What century are you speaking of? c. Place - of course, it the query appears on the Fauquier Co. rootsweb, then we assume at least one event may have occurred there. Some things to keep in mind as you compose your online query, whether on rootsweb or in a publication:: Some of us old duffers have been at this crazy hobby for decades and have acquired books--and knowledge--which MAY help you solve a genealogical problem. But, I, for one, am not even going to bother answering your query if you don't give me a date!!!! My folks in Fauquier Co. decided after the Revolution to grow their tobacco and livestock in Kentucky, so I have books mentioning these folks in several PLACES. Maybe your folks migrated there too. I bet other old-time genealogists feel the same way I do--delete those online messages without dates!!!! The Family History Library catalog [www.familysearch.org] tells me Fauquier Co. was formed 1759 from Prince William Co. The catalog also tells me [when I search for PLACE] that Prince William county was formed in 1730 from Stafford and King George Counties. I might even have some books about Stafford Co., where many of the records have been destroyed. Anyway, a plea for better constructed queries!!! I--and others--may be of help to you!!! I have helped others from time to time. But not without dates!!! E.W.Wallace **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms and advice on AOL Money & Finance. 2. The Wilsons
    3. Many thanks to E. W. Wallace for the guidelines for "newbies" of which I am one. I haven't posted any queries yet, am a little nervous about it. But I hope to fully participate soon. All of my paternal ancestors are from Fauquier Co at some point. They all sort of migrated there from Stafford, etc. Oh well, since I'm here. The names I am researching are: Templeman, Nelson, Strother, Jolley, Saunders, Berry, Robinson, and some others. I have a cousin in Charleston, SC and she and I are researching together. So far we have 17 lines that we have researched, some with as many as 23 generations. We have hit a brick wall on Elizabeth Furr and her father William, Elizabeth was born abt 1780 and married Jacob Jolley in 1815. If anyone can help with Elizabeth, Anne and I will be grateful. Hope my first query was done correctly. If not, someone please let me know. 1. Re: [VAFAUQUI] Request for Jolly info.
    2. Virginia L. (Ginny) Keefer
    3. I may be able to help you when I dig out my Jolly Researcher Magazines to check your names. My great grandfather was Lewis Wilson Hall Jolly who married Mary Frances Williams. He had also been married to two named Bank. They all lives at time in the Coffee Co TN area and some descendants went to Talladega AL. There was a Wilson Jolly, Rev War soldier, from SC whom I suspect is connected to my grand grandfather- who called himself Wills Jolly. Mary Henke, deceased and a wonderful Jolly researcher as she properly named her magazines, has many postings on Jolly forum. It you are not familiar with it, let me know with your personal E Mail and I will send you the URL. Welcome to this great site. See also Prince William, Stafford, and even back to Lancaster Co VA. Many families followed this route. ** Court, Land, Wills and Financial of Isle of Wight, VA, Will Book III, 1647-1800 has: James Jolley, Estate appraised by William Noyall, Robert Driver, Christopher Reynolds, William West. Recorded March 23, 1729. ** Note, checking Isle of Wight's own genealogy, it states that early on, Isle of Wight extended 90 miles down into North Carolina. County names that sound too odd to be related to us- some times surprise us. Ginny Keefer [email protected]

    3. One more thing...when you go to the list archives to check for something it is checked by the subject line, so please put the surname and other pertinent information in your subject line. Anne W. B. Musser Grandchildren are God's reward for not strangling your teenagers. -------Original Message------- From: [email protected] Date: 04/15/08 19:41:50 To: [email protected] Subject: [VAFAUQUI] Request to Make concerning Queries with More Detail Rootsweb seems to be full of newbies these days, who don't understand these guidelines for queries: 1) People from all over the globe may be reading your messages.
