Before I go any further, I need to say that Renee S. has provided most all the records on Rosannah Hurst and William Jones, Sr. (Due to having to cut and paste, if I miss anyone, please forgive me. I'm not trying to take credit for anyone else's hard work and generosity. Amanda ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Renee suggested that maybe Charles Jones who married Ann Childs might be related to Rosannah (Jones) Hurst who had Charles Jones as her security. Continuing to follow her line and associations. Rosannah's children pretty much line up with her Will. (I think Mildred and Milly are same daughter and same for Amelia and Deilia? Only "Mildred" and "Deilia" are named in Will of Rosannah Hurst. James Hurst and Rosannah Jones Records of James Hurst and Rosannah Jones marriage on 21 Apr 1751 in Overwharton Parish, Stafford Co., VA can be found in the Parish records by Powhaton Mocure. Also in the records are the dates of birth of 2 of their children. Elizabeth Hurst b.10 Jan 1752, and Henry Hurst b.3 Dec 1753. It is unknown at this time if Mildred/Amelia/Milley Hurst, Nancy Hurst, Delila Hurst, or Jane Hurst were also born in Overwharton Parrish. The next records I have for the family are in Fairfax Co. after James died. On 20 October 1766 in Fairfax County, VA, Rosanna Hurst was named as the Administratrix of the estate of her deceased husband, James Hurst, and she made bond in the amount of £500 with Charles Jones serving as her security. (Really would like to find his parents. Rosannah's daughter, Elizabeth Hurst married Jesse Thompson, and it looks as if his mother was married to "Mr. Jones" before she married William Thompson.) Henry Hurst m. Ann Emmons. Her sister Sarah married William Jones, Sr. William Jones, Sr. had indenture with George Freeman and wife Jael Stigler (1818) and PETER GRANT was named as living on part of the tract that Jael Stigler inherited from the estate of her father James Stigler. So I'm wondering if Peter Grant could be connected with John Grant or his sons and IF the name JOHN "GAUNT" as witness on Will of Rosannah Hurst could possibly be "GRANT"? In 1771 John Grant and his sons John and Daniel leased a tract of land in the Manor of Leeds. His property was described cor. to Roseanna Hurst...line of Reuben Payne..cor. to said Payne and Simon Hethling.(Could this be Simon Heffling? Maybe was son of Augustine Heffling and Nancy Hurst?)This shows that Rosannah Jones Hurst had moved to Fauquier Co and acquired land prior to that date. Marriage records for her children should all be found in Fauquier Co. none have been located to date. Henry Hurst is believed to have married around 1774 at 21 yrs of age to Ann Emmons daughter of William Emmons and UNKNOWN. (Ann had another sister, Agatha Emmons who married Martin Hefflin. Rosannah Hurst had daughter Nancy Hurst m. Augustin Heffling which makes me wonder if Martin Hefflin and above Simon Hethling (Heffling?) might be sons of Nancy Hurst and Augustine Heffling? I've seen where this name Heflin is spelled nearly half dozen ways?) In 1774 we find Rosannah Hurst leasing a tract in Manor of Leeds of 100 acres from Thomas Lord Fairfax, for 20s. stirling. The lease required 3 people, Rosannah chose her son Henry and daughter Delila to be on the lease with her. Fauquier Co.,Deed Book 5, Pages 101-105 This William Jones married Sarah Emmons. children: Henry F. Jones m. Elizabeth Ann Adams, 12 Jan. 1811, Fauquier Co. Jesse Jones m. Judy Wiggington, 26 Aug. 1816 Joseph (Joe) Jones m. Molly Brooks, 31 Dec. 1793 Fauquier Co. William Jones, Jr. m. Diadema S. Holmes, 24 Sept. 1810, Fauqiuer Co. Henry Hurst, Joseph Emmons, James Emmons are mentioned as witnesses in a lease between William Champe, Esq. of K. G. Co., Par. of Brunswick and Wm. Jones of Ham. Par. Sarah is mentioned as wife of William Jones and Joe Jones is his son. Fauquier Co.,Deed Book 5 pages 513-514 William Champe name in with all these makes me think that William Jones, Sr. who married Sarah Emmons could possibly connect to the line of JONES that William Champe's widow remarried, which was CHURCHILL JONES.
