    1. [VAFAUQUI] Does anyone know the SUMMER DUCK area?
    2. Amanda E. Douglass
    3. Planning trip to Warrenton in June. Meeting up with some relatives there but none of us know the area referred to as SUMMER DUCK. I'd like to try to get as close to where my 5x great grandfather owned land as possible. Also, if any of you have lived there all your life and really know the land and early history, families, etc. we'd love a tour? Get in touch with me off list if that's a possibility. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks all! Amanda ----------------------------------------------------------------- Here are the names and I'd like to try to come as close to where these people lived as possible: In Chancery Records, it gives a survey of the land that Alexander McConchie deeded to his son Robert McConchie m. Mary Ann King. Mary McConchie was gdn. of sons Robert King McConchie and William A. McConchie. It goes on to say that this land is bordered by land of William Embrey but I also find EMMONS name. ----------- Then Thomas Keith was tax collector in area where Alexander McConchie lived. Also, Thomas Keith m. Judith Blackwell. They had son Tarleton F. Keith m. Elizabeth C. Stone. Tarleton F. Keith was witness on Will of Ann McConchie. Elizabeth C. Stone d/o of William Stone. William Stone and Charles Jones also proved Will of Ann McConchie. So, I know I'm in the right neighborhood by this. Can anyone get me close to some of these places named? List of Taxable Property taken by Thomas Keith, 1783 Thomas Keith's District 8 began at Elk Run Church and ran down [south] to the Deep Run Bridge then down the Run [the boundary with Stafford] to the Rappahannock, then up the river to the mouth of Tin Pott [Tinpot Run], from thence to Rogues Road leading into the main [Winchester to Falmouth] road by Joseph Morgan's, thence down it to Marrs Run, then along Bradford's Road to the beginning. This area was the southernmost one of four bordering on the Rappahannock. 3. We've passed through the Summerduck community numerous times going to Goldvein to visit cousins. Summerduck is a small crossroads community. Take Rt. 651 off Hwy. 17 to get there if coming from the south. 651 is Summerduck Road. From north off Hwy. 17 take Rt. 637, then left on 651. The intersection of 637 and 651 is Summerduck. Roads are marked very clearly off Hwy. 17. I hope someone on the list will direct you to ancestor property. Do what I did and call the Wildlife Management office and ask for the park ranger there at Chester Phelps Wildlife Management. Once you get thru to someone there, explain your intentions. Your ancestor property may be a part of the Wildlife Management Area. I got lucky and spoke with the ranger at the G. Richard Thompson Wildlife Management Area and he knew EXACTLY where my ancestor property was that is now part of the Wildlife Management Area. Matter of fact, we are planning to visit in 2 weeks and he will meet us and show us what's left of the house and hopefully we will be able to identify an unmarked family cemetery there. Good luck, Estelle ----- Original Message ----- From: "Amanda E. 3. Amanda: After checking my Fauquier County map I see that TinPot Run does run south of Remington, VA and ends at the Rappahannock River. You may want to consider looking in Remington as well. Summerduck Road runs into Remington, VA. Estelle ----- Original Message ----- From: "Amanda E.
