Just wanted to provide a little feedback concerning the suggestion that Estelle shared about contacting Wildlife Management office to maybe find where my old McConchie family lived in Sumerduck. Estelle was luckier than I in that regard. I phoned the Chester Philips Wildlife Management office and spoke to gentleman that said no one would know where old family parcels of land would be. I explained to him the wonderful luck another lady had and he wanted to refer me to Fredericksburg office for further assistance. So I guess that's a dead end. But I wanted to share below exchange between myself and cousin Artie's because his idea turned out to be a good one! This might be something that someone might want to try if you are trying to find land of old descendants. Amanda -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "If you do call those Wildlife folks ask them about the McConchie family plot shown on Rogers Ford Road at Sumerduck.I was thinking that it might be a law to register family burial sites. Anyway, I found and printed 24 property owners along Rogers Ford Rd from the tax records. I'm sending them all a letter, with a portion of the map showing the McConchie plot, and begging for info. If it's there, someone must know." Then below was reponse to all that....(what a gem of a lady!) "Amanda - Two people have responded to my letters. One nice lady just called and said she was "pretty sure" the McConchie Graveyard was still there and said she would try and pin it down and call me back. I looked up the property she mentioned and it's 76 acres! Looking at the map, I had originally thought to just drive down the road and the family plot would be in someone's back yard. Actually, being on a large parcel is more promising as it's less likely to have been destroyed by development."
