One of the messages on this list in the last few days refers to the above subject surname. While I am unfamiliar with this name, I did read some of the messages. One line caught my eye: Boonesborough, now in Madison Co., KY was mentioned. Those of you who have access to the online database HeritageQuest through your local [or nearby] public library may want to search for a book named Boonesborough. The author is George W. Ranck, and the book was originally a publication of the Filson Club in Louisville, KY. I have not checked to see whether there is an index but be sure to look over the Appendices. Excuse me for not giving more information. I researched this book long ago and have not since looked at it. Also, there is a Calendar of Kentucky Papers published by the Historical Society of Wisconsin which refers to MANY inhabitants of early Kentucky. Of course, until ca 1792 or so, Kentucky was claimed by Virginia, and a good many people poured into Kentucky from all parts of the then United States--Virginia, of course, Pennsylvania, North Carolina [Col. Richard Henderson of Boonesborough, a part of Transylvania Colony was from Granville Co., NC], Maryland--you name it. Hope you enjoy learning some additional history of our great [but diminishing] United States. E.W.Wallace **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance.
