She was the daughter of Daniel Ii Shumate and Sarah Ann James. Duannah died after May 16, 1829 in Fauquier, Virginia. WB #3, p. 439, dated 16 Jun 1803), which also mentions children: Moses Jr.; David; Daniel; Nimrod; John; Mary; Hannah Boggess; Sussanna Waddle; Margaret McMeekin. A subsequent guardianship proceeding (24 Oct 1803) assigns Dianna Johnson (sic) control of Charlotte, Daniel and Mary Johnson, orphans of Moses Johnson. Duannah's will (WB #7, p. 182, dated 16 May 1839, proven 25 Mar 1830, mentions Marshall K. Newhouse, son of her daughter Mary (who married 1st Zebulon Newhouse), and Mary Bray, "now wife of Timothy Bray,"[He was JR.] John Burgess witnesses this will. The birth dates of John's children are taken from his family Bible record. There are a large number of cousin marriages recorded in this family, and many twin births. SILAS H. NEWHOUSE was witness on marriage bond of GEORGE W. McConchie m. Mary J. Bray, d/o Mary Johnson and 2nd husband Timothy Bray Jr. Silas H. Newhouse and his brother Marshall K. Newhouse were HALF BLOOD SIBLINGS to MARY J. BRAY m. GEORGE W. McCONCHIE, great grandson of ALEXANDER McCONCHIE who died 1811 in Fauquier Co.
