I'm happy to see that others are working on sorting out the Jett family, though. I would be careful about connecting Tidewater Jetts from King George and Westmoreland counties, with piedmont Jetts in Fauquier County. However, the family did start out there. Also, I wonder about the 1685 birth date for John Jett. Is there any source for this, or did someone back into it by figuring that he had to be 25 when an alleged offspring was born in 1710? And where is the evidence of the 1710 birthdate?
I'm not only confused about the Jetts, I'm confused about these emails. LOL! I have found a cousin, Betty, who has been working on the Jetts as well as the Courtney's and we combined our efforts. She has some kind of computer program and she used it to sort out the Jett's that she put into it and she feels that our James Jett was the one born ca 1735 married to Elizabeth ? and that his parents were Peter Jett and Anne ? and Peter's parents were Francis Jett and Sarah Saxton/Ashton. That appears to be the conclusion you came to as well. I have no clue as to where the birthdate of 1710 came from. It is probably something that someone felt had to be a somewhat correct date and then everyone else copied it. I thought that James may have been the son of Francis (Roger) Jett and Mary Hutchinson but their son was born probably around 1742-45 and that would be too late for our James Jett if he was an adult when his father died ca 1758. If that date is correct. Kathleen > >>I found this but I can't vouch for it... Marianne Dillow. > Hey, I can't vouch for it either, and I'm the one who wrote it.
