In my many years of research, there were many Southard's in Surry and Yadkin Counties in NC. I also think some came from New Jersey but that thought is a little fuzzy in my memory. In the Moravian records in NC, there is a mention of "the Jersey Settlement". My Morris ancestors along with the Pipes family came to NC from New Jersey.
