As I have posted before Edwin Conway, Sr and Martha Eltonhead are my 9th great grandparents. Her parents are Richard Eltonhead and Ann Sutton who died in Lancashire, England. In 1652 according to Patents and Cavaliers Edwin brought Martha over to Va as a headright. Edwin also sponsored a John Sutton in that same year. It didn't give the county. I have seen a John Sutton b ca 1652 and died in 1692 in Middlesex Co., Va. He wa a tailor. Between 1665 and 1669, George, William and Walter Sutton immigrated to Lancaster Co., Va. A John Sutton resided there in 1666. He married Elizabeth Ellis. In John Sutton's will dated 23 Feb 1692 he mentions sons Christopher, and John and Michael and a dau Saffronia and his wife Elizabeth. Signed & Sealed: John Sutton : In the presence of David Kerrick 2 nd May 1692 Thomas Marston and John O'Keefe John Sutton's family was in the Parish Records of Christ Church in Middlesex County. I am wondering if this John Sutton could be the son or some kin of John Sutton that Edwin Conway, Sr brought to Va in 1652 with his wife Martha Eltonhead since her mother is Ann Sutton of Rushton Spencer in England. Any info would greatly be appreciated.
