As I have posted before, Martha Eltonhead that married Edwin Conway, Sr are my 9th great grandparents. Martha's sister Eleanor Eltonhead married Col. John Carter. Would anyone know who his parents are? Here is some info I have on him. Col. John Carter Died: 6 JAN 1669/70 in "Nomini Hall" Lancaster County, Virginia CARTER, John. Will. 15 September 1669. 6 January 1669/70. Son, John Carter; son, Robert 1000 acres of land that was deserted by Col. Mathews and taken up by me, ( vizt. ) the neck of land that Wm. Thatcher and Wm. Hutchings has taken. Daughter, Elizabeth Utie. Wife, Elizabeth and her young son (whose name is intended to be Charles). Before marriage to present wife had made deed of gift to son John. Mr. Thomas Haynes, Mr. Thomas Malstard and Mr David Miller to be appraisors of estate. Extr., son John. Codicil, 16 Sept. 1669. To cozen John Carter one hogshead of tobacco. Wits. David Mils, Edward Carter, Thos. Edmonds, Jos. Willis. Bones of deceased wife and son George to be dug up and laid by me in the chancel of Christ Church Parish in Lancaster County, in a coffin.
