My 9th great grandparents are Edwin Conway, Sr and Martha Eltonhead. I descend from their daughter Eltonhead Conway that married Henry Thacker, Sr. Upon more investigation and finding more records I want to post two corrections as to my previous postings in other places. i. The death date of Edwin Conway, SR. is 1660/61 instead of Sep 1678 like Hayden had in the Glassell book. (Source Va Col. Abstracts--Lancaster County. p. 11) Lancaster Court Session 14 March 1660/61. Minute Bk. p. 141. Com. of Administration on the Est. of Mr. Edwin Connoway dec' to Henry Corbyn. I am in the process of trying to find the full estate by roll of film. I just found this new info of Edwin Conway in Maryland ************************************************************************************** i. 21 Aug 1640 Letter of Attorney from Captain William Cleyborn names as witnesses Henry Poole and EDWIN CONAWAY. ii. 1649 Geoffery Gant pays William Eltonhead 500 of Liber A ...... the record goes on to name as a witness .. MARTHA CONOWAY. iii. 1650 Court and Testamentary Business 1649-1650: William Eltonhead gent Attorney of M' EDWYN CONOWAY plte Marty Kirke defend't. .. a debt of 350 pounds of tobacco. Edwin Conway, SR came to Virginia ca 1640 from England and was third Clerke of Northampton County., Virginia in 1642. He died 1660-1661 in Lancaster Co., Va with Henry Corbin as his Executor. Alice Eltonhead, a sister to my Martha Eltonhead married Henry Corbin. Would anyone have anything to add to Edwin and Martha Eltonhead Conway being in Maryland in these time frames.
