Frederick C. was formed in 1743 from Orange; Fauquier in 1759 from Prince William, etc. Culpeper was formed in 1749 from Orange also. These counties are part of the Chester Gap area on the Blue Ridge where some Elseys lived. Go on Google and fine a Formation of Virginia Counties chart.
