Marianne, Rena Worthen who is webmistress for the Loudoun mailing list, is always mentioning her home area as the gateway to KY...and Fincastle is there in VA. I think she is webmistress for several lists in southwestern VA but I cant remember whick ones they are - maybe Botetourt Co, and/or Montgomery Co. Another way to search is: Go to http://usgenweb.org/ then Virginia you'll get http://vagenweb.org/ then click on VA files you'll get http://usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm *** then click on Click here for County Indexes and you will get a colorful chart http://usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm Drop down to the bottom and Click on Defunct Counties OR from the starred link *** Click on search Va http://www.usgwarchives.net/search/search.cgi/searchva.htm and you can select Fincastle as the county to search. ----- Original Message ----- From: <marlowest155@verizon.net> To: <vafauqui@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 10, 2010 10:37 PM Subject: Re: [VAFAUQUI] land records, maps- PS Would anyone know if there are any books on Fincastle County, Virginia before Ky became a state in 1792. I do know Fincastle was split into Fayette, Lincoln and Jefferson counties before 1792. I am caught in a time warp on one of my lines and not sure where to look for records. Unfortunately Fincastle Co., Va isn't on this list. I am stumped. LOL !!
