Footnote .com is allowing free access for a week to its Revolutionary War records. I found James Jett, private in the 11th Virginia Regiment, Capt. Gabriel Long’s company, serving from his enlistment on August 24, 1776, until his death on March 25, 1777. The 11th Virginia Regiment was organized on February 3, 1777 to consist of 4 companies from Loudoun, Frederick, Prince William and Amelia Counties, Daniel Morgan's Independent Rifle Company; and 5 companies comprising of the Virginia portion of the Maryland and Virginia Rifle Regiments. Could this be the James Jett from Fauquier County? I don’t recall seeing any other references to this Revolutionary War soldier. James Jett’s captain Gabriel Long also served with the Maryland and Virginia Rifle Regiment, which was formed in 1776 and merged into the 11th in 1777.
