    3. I don't know anything about grants, what information they include, etc.  My John Smith had 3 sons, Augustine, John, and Thomas (I think - from memory).  Augustine married Susannah Darnall, so this seems like a likely match for my ancestor.  Can you educate me as to what information is available from the grant and how to get a copy?  Thank you so much. Believe it or not, the only Smith I have in the grants database is a John Smith, who patented 313 acres on Elk Marsh Run (now just Marsh Run) on 20 September 1715. His land lay between that of Morgan Darnall and that of Thomas and Innis Hooper/Hopper (the Hooper land later belonging to Captain George Eskridge). The southern end of it seems to abut what is now Catlett Road, between Hwy. 29 and Hwy 17, just above Remington, about where current county road 661 joins Catlett Road. The east side of the property has frontage on one of the headwater drains of Elk Marsh Run. -    Nancy No virus found in this outgoing message.
