I'm trying to piece together confusing information and would like to know source information for the following. Rice Hooe I b 1599 d 1655 m Sarah (Goodwin) d 1665 Rice Hooe II b 1640 d ca 1694 m#1 Susanna Nicholas m#2 by 1689 the widow of Thomas Howard Rice Hooe III b 1660 d 1726 m#1 Mary (Dade) widow of Robert Massey m#2 1695 Ann Howson d 1699 m#3 ca 1699 Francis Townsend widow of Frances Dade and widow of Capt John Withers. Rice and Francis had a daughter Francis that married William Rogers. William was son of John and Mary Newton Rogers. Mary was daughter of Benjamin & Mary Grigsby Newton. After Benjamin died, Mary Grigsby Newton married John Mees. Francis Townsend and Frances Dade had a son Townsend Dade that m Rose Newton who was 1st married to Thomas Grigsby. 1. Did most of these events occur in Stafford Co, VA? 2. Was Francis Hooe who married William Rogers the daughter of Rice and Francis Hooe? All of these families must have been neighbors and intermarried throughout the generations. I believe some of the counties were burned counties so there isn't too much proof around. Would appreciate any help with citations so I can send for copies. Thank you, Ruth
Hi Ruth, This is a really good website to search for some of the people you've mentioned. Mike Marshall's site provides a "goldmine" of records to help you cross check around. Never take any of this as gospel. Use for a guide and then obtain the records. Good luck!
