Renee, June and Denise, I ordered copies of Fauquier Land records back in June 2008 concerning: Deed Book 12, pages 95-96: George Dent/ Thomas Dotey Deed Book 14, pages 26-33: George Dent and Elizabeth Dent, William and Janet Dent/ Alexander McConchie Deed Book 14, pages 39-43: William Dent and Janet Dent/ James Emmons Deed Book 14, pagse 43-49: George Dent and Elizabeth Dent/ William Dent and Janet Dent/ James Emmons Deed Book 15, pages 517-519: William and Jannet Dent/ George Kemper Deed Book 16, pages 693-696: William and Jannet Dent/ George Kemper At the time, I didn't quite understand the relationships regarding George Dent and wife Elizabeth as this same George Dent had been married previously to the widow Rose Townsend [Dade] Knox of Robert Knox whose 1785 estate inventory was done by Alexander McConchie and Lott Hackley. But I do understand the relationships concerning George Dent and 1st wife Rose, 2nd wife Elizabeth nee Harrison who married JOHN KNOX, 2nd GEORGE DENT and 3rd ENOCH BROWN. I believe JAMES EMMONS in these records was the one who was married at one time to CATY STIGLER who was SISTER of JAMES STIGLER SR. m. MILDRED [REEDS] BROWN in 1779. I would like to show with records that the ELIZABETH HARRISON who married JOHN KNOX was the daughter of COL. RICHARD HARRISON and his second wife widow ELIZABETH [DENT] PENN of WILLIAM PENN. Their daughter Elizabeth Harrison married JOHN KNOX, 2nd GEORGE DENT after his wife ROSE had died, 3rd ENOCH BROWN. 1. Notes: Capt. Robert Knox of MD, 21 Sep 1781; 30 Oct 1782. Son: John, "Summer Dusk" in VA, 5000 ac. and all negroes, horses, cattle, and everything on that plantation except as otherwise devised and all the estate I have in Scotland. Son: Robert Dade Knox, all my lands in MD and all negroes and stock on that land except as otherwise devised. Daughter: Elizabeth Knox, "Beulah" in VA, 500 ac.; negroes Short Luie and her 3 children, Jean, Nan, and Rose; 2 horses; 4 cows and calves from "Summer Dusk" plantation. Daughter: Janet Knox, land out of "Summer Dusk"; negroes Moll and her 3 children, Jean, Jesse, and Armistead; 2 horses and 4 cows and calves to be taken from "Summer Dusk". Wife: Rose, whatever is customarily given to widows in the part of the world where my estate lies. The copartnership of Knox & Baillie to be settled. My Execs. to get my share of the effects of my brother John from my brother William as I have never received anything and there should be a considerable balance. My children to be well educated. Wit: Gustavus Richard Brown, Verlinda Mastin, Andrew Baillie, William Miller. Codicil, 15 Feb 1782: Wife is now with child and no provision made in will. I give to sd. child 800 lbs. sterling out of the estates devised to my other children to be paid when it is of age or marries. I appoint Mr. William Allason of Fauquier Co., VA as one of the Execs. of this codicil and to my will. 3 Dec 1782: Rose Townshend Knox, widow declined the bequests in this will and elected her third. Rose Townsend Dade married Robert Knox 26 Oct. 1769. By time of her Uncle's will in 1784, she was still called Rose Townsend Knox and had not yet married George Dent. Rose remarried George Dent bef 1790 in CC MD. The first stated land records and the relationships between GEORGE DENT and wife 2nd wife ELIZABETH are sorted out with the help of Linda Reno and Shirley Middleton Moller from the Charles County genweb list few years back. I will send in second post to this list. I have theory about who the wife "ANN" was of Alexander McConchie and I think she was ANN HUDSON, d/o THOMAS HUDSON and ELIZABETH PHILBERT of CC MD. But before I proceed with more records and connections, I need to establish that ROSE TOWNSEND DADE married 1st ROBERT KNOX and 2nd married GEORGE DENT. That his same GEORGE DENT remarried to ELIZABETH KNOX who was Elizabeth Harrison m. JOHN KNOX and that this Elizabeth Harrison was the daughter of Col. Richard Harrison who was ALSO a brother of JOSEPH HANSON HARRISON. Thanks, Amanda
