There were numerous records of suits brought against him for debts in the Fauquier Co Minute books between about 1770 and 1775 when they seemed to stop. (So did all other references to George stop at that time) (Source: Fauquier Families, 1759-1799. by Joh P. Alcock, 1994. pp. 73,74) 1773. Thomas Maddux, Peter Grant & John Dugard came into court & acknowledged themselves indebted to our Soverign lord the King in the sums following ... to be void on the condition that T. Maddox be of good behavior to all His Majesties liege people and in particular toward George Conway. Fact 7. In 1784 John Markham sued Thomas & wife Elizabeth Conway and William & wife Jane Conway for the land Mary Waugh had willed him. It was to go to Markham on the death of his mother, Elizabeth, but she & Thomas gave it to William and George instead. George was not mentioned in the original suit or any of the subsequent mentions in the court minutes. William alone settled with Markham. How could he turn over George=s land unless George was dead and William was raising George=s children (if George had children). I copied Fauquier Co Index to Land Deeds for >Conway= 1759-1914 and no sale of George Conway=s land was recorded in his name during that time frame. James Conway of Va., who served in the Rev War, I have a notation of : Thomas Conway and wife Elizabeth of Fauquier County , 1733, deeded to William and George Conway , their sons, land devised by Mary Waugh to her daughter Elizabeth Conway. That's all I have on them. I don't know how Lt. James Conway fits into the other Conway's. He does not appear in Edwin Conway, Sr and Martha Eltonhead lines. Marianne Dillow
