Dear Amanda: I am really enjoying your notebook summaries of Summerduck. Mostly because we always drove through there on the way to Goldvein to visit relatives. Since we moved to Georgia we don't get that way very often anymore. A trip to Virginia is focused in Front Royal and Warrenton, time permitting. Thanks for sharing Miss Jones book. Estelle, OVJ will probably solve much for us but you were right about GROVE CHURCH being in GOLD VIEW. LOL! page 11 "In 1915 a man by name of ROBERT CALVIN EMBREY who lived near the Rappahannock River purposed in his heart by the will of God to build a church in Sumerduck. It was to be a NEW SCHOOL BAPTIST CHURCH like the GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH in GOLD VIEW. My father helped to build that church. I have been a member there for 44 years. The church went for years without a cemetery, but now has one located in the back a distance from the church. People attended not only the Primitive Baptist Church but also the GROVE and Mt. HOLLY CHURCH before the NEW SCHOOL BAPTIST CHURCH was built in Sumerduck. Mt. HOLLY CHURCH is located about three miles up the REMINGTON road from Sumerduck and has a large cemetery nearby." Amanda
