Hi June and Denise, Many thanks for responding! Yes, I am looking at all those posts by Connie and Renee and some things are starting to click. Here more pieces that I'm looking to connect. Add anything you can. Thanks, Amanda Wondering if this JOHN BROWN makes a connection? Minutre Book 1764-1768 page 3 24 Sept. 1764 A report of jury on the acre of alnd petitioned for by CHARLES DUNCAN was returned...I have 12 free and lawfull men of my county befing first sworn diligently viewed the acre of alnd belonging to RAULEIGH DOWNMAN petitioned for by CHARLES DUNCAN for the erection of a water ill on SUMMER DUCK RUN and do find...no damage to any person whatsoever...jurors set their hands and seals this 15 Setp. 1764 W. GRANT Sherriff, JOHN WOODSYDE, JOHN BROWN, JOHN HENERY, WM. COURTNEY, JOSEPH SEBASTIN, PETER BEACH, JOHN COUTNEY, RICHARD COVINGTON, LOTT HACKLEY, JOHN BUTLER, MAURICE JACOBS and GEORGE HENERY. Would like to try to ID above JOHN BROWN. Wonder if he could be the JOHN BROWN who died 1788? Above LOTT HACKLEY was on the 1775 Tithables List taken by William Grant for lower Hamilton Parish. I'm thinking above "W. GRANT" might be same person to did Tithables list in 1775? 1775 Tithables List taken by William Grant for lower Hamiton Parish had Alexander McConchie at Robert Knox's quarter. We know that Alexander McConchie did 1785 estate of Robert Knox whose widow was Rose Townsend [Dade] Knox who remarried George Dent. Robert Knox and Alexander McConchie were both on the 1771 estate of Robert Mastin in CC MD. Alexander McConchie had wife Ann MNU. On the 1775 Tithables List close by to Alexander McConchie was Lott Hackley whose wife Jael Reeds was sister of Mildred Reeds who married Unknown Brown, 2nd James Stigler 27 Dec. 1779. [Lott Hackley was around a JOHN BROWN in year 1764.] Mildred didn't have any children by 1st marriage to UNKNOWN BROWN but there was a James Brown witness on her marriage to JAMES STIGLER in 1779. So I'm thinking that perhaps some of the BROWN names close by to Lott Hackley and Alexander McConchie might be lines that Mildred married into? Two names on the 1775 Tithables list that were living close by were MARMADUKE BROWN and SWANSON BROWN. I'm thinking that the 1775 SWANSON BROWN may be the same one in record below? This has me thinking because the name SWANSON BROWN shows up again as a witness on the Will of ROBERT EMBREY. JOSEPH ORDOR was on account sale of WILLIAM EMMONS in 1796/ JESSE BROWN was on same estate account.] p.30 Bethel/Betthill. John+. 59M, 66F, 75G, 78C. M5-100. 1773. Wit for Ann Odor ag William & Elizabeth EMMONS. D[eed Book] 7-180, 1779. He & Ann + Bethel sell 125 a. on Summerduck Run to Swanson Brown. Then wondering if above Swanson Brown could be the one below?
