The family has a lot of well documented information (and some not so well documented) out there. This has allowed me to exclude a lot of possibilities but because John's son William apparently left Fauquier after he sold the farm he is rarely mentioned. William's male children are not documented at all (except by me) as far as I can tell. > > I am hoping someone researching other associtated lines maybe has run across a stray Edmonds specifically Thomas, John, William (Billy) or Octavia. > > Billy and a cousin James Henry Edmonds travel to Central MO (after a stop in Kanawha County WVA) with Mark Chilton about 1840. Wm was b. 1704 in Lancaster, VA d. 1741 Lancaster, VA. I show your John Edmonds as son of Wm. and his first wife, Catherine Miller but I have no other siblings from that marriage. That John Edmonds b. 1737, d. 1798 m. 1st Frances Jane Wiley/Wildey and 2nd Helen Shepard Hack. John and Frances Jane had a son William b 14 Feb 1763 and d. 1811 in Fauquier Co. I do not have a spouse for this William. The only Octavia Edmonds in my records was born about 1789, the daughter of Elias Edmonds and Frances Edmonds (his cousin). Octavia's siblings were Elias b. 1787 and Elizabeth b 1791 who married Joseph Blackwell of Fauquier Co. Octavia married George William Grayson who was b abt 1787. I show Octavia's father, Elias Edmonds b.1757 d 1800 was the son of Elias and Elizabeth Milier. This Elias was the son of the same William Edmonds b 1704 Lancaster VA and his 2nd wife, Judith Sydnor from whom I descend. My records show Octavia's mother, Frances Edmonds as the daughter of John and Frances Jane Wiley Edmonds. Is it possible that your "lost" Billy and Octavia were uncle and niece rather than brother and sister? Peggy Price

    3. I was interested in your Edmonds posting. I am researching them also, but when I went to the info I had in FTM for them, this was all I could find. I will get on the ball and check my notes for you. >From the website, "The Virginians" by John Pritchett John Flood Edmunds [2346.1.1.1.3.2] (-1797) married Lucy Gray in Southampton County 19 October 1769. John Edmunds was Brunswick County justice (1776), sheriff (1777, 1780-1), and militia colonel. He paid taxes on 16 slaves in Brunswick County in 1782. John made his will in Brunswick County remembering his wife, Lucy, and leaving land to three sons and money and slaves to four daughters, including the now married Elizabeth Lewis. He appointed executors his wife, brother Sterling Edmunds, son-in-law Benjamin Lewis, and son John F. Edmunds (will dated 4 Mar. 1797, recorded 24 April 1797).
