    3. I am confused a bit here - I have an older e-mail giving evidence that the Peter Conway who married Mary James was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Waugh) James. Did Elizabeth also marry a Mauzey, or are these two different families? It certainly looks as if the Peter Conway who married Mary James was son of Thomas Conway and Elizabeth Waugh. And then it looks as if Peter Conway was the same one who was witness on the will of John James with BRITAIN LEWIS. Elizabeth's mother, Mary Waugh, named him as her grandson. If anyone disputes this, please speak up but I think this is correct. 2. Yes, it is the same Samuel Stigler born 1733 in Hanover, King George, Virginia, United States he died: 1800 Nelson, Kentucky, United States Apparently 1765 is the date Samuel and Sarah moved to Culpepper Co., Virginia, moving from the Parish of Burnswick in King George Co. There were two Virginia Public Service claims dated June 18,1781 and October 14, 1781. Certificates for beef furnished for public use by Samuel Stigler. Culpepper County Deed Book M pages 221-223 dated August 16,1784, Samuel and wife Ann(Sarah Ann) sell for 300 pounds current money of Virginia 400 acres of land to John Garnett of same county. We know that Samuels first wife was named Sarah but find his wife's name listed as Ann in this document, there is no doubt but that this is the mother of his children. She apparently died before 1787 as Samuel moved to Kentucky. Samuel married Sarah Pound, a widow April 11, 1787 and they had no children. Nelson County deed book no. 3, page 107- Samuel selling tract of land where he now lives dated 1793 to James Brown, containing 125 acres. In 1793, Samuel and Sarah sell to Beal Dorsey for 40 pounds current money of the State of Caintucky, 112 1/2 acres of land situated on Simmons Creek, part of a tract of land Samuel received from Patrick McGee, the original land patent in the name of John E. Kine. Another deed dated August 13,1793 selling for 40 pounds current money of the State of Caintucky, 112 1/2 acres to Job Eldridge, also located on Simsons Creek, Nelson Co, Kentucky. SAMUEL STIGLER WILL In th name of God amen I Samuel Stigler of this State of Kentucky and the County of Nelson being of sound mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die have made and ordained this to be my last will and Testament (revoking all others heretofore made) in manner and form following that is to say. In the first place I give and bequeath unto my son Benjamin Stigler the tract of land and plantation whereon I now live containing 182 acres more or less to him, his heirs or assigns forever being made up of three different surveys viz 125 acres of Bairds entry 38 of Lincoln's and 19 of Rogers and it is my will and devise that if any claims or encumbrances should disturb the S. Benjamin my son in the quick possession of the s. Tract or plantation that all costs and damages shall be paid out of the residue of my estate excepting my wife's Sarah laefuldemand. In the second place I give and bequealth to my daughter Gilly Stigler a certain tract of land 200 acres more or less lying in Hardin County on Rough Creek and its waters having a bond for the same assigned by Samuel Brown the right being in William Tool(?) of Shelby County and State of Kentucky and also one feather bed and furniture and one side saddle. Thirdly i give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Rawson five pounds. Fourthly all the rest and the residue of my estate real and personal shall be divided into seven equal parts or shares that is to say Sally Brown, Polly Snyder, Charlotte Eldridge and Nancy Dorsey each one share, the children of my daughter Jane Turnam one share and Benjamin Stigler and Gilly one share to their and their heirs and assigns forever. Fifthly I do hereby appoint my son in law James Brown, Charles Wortham, and Beall Dorsey Excutors to this my last will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal thistwenty secon day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred. Signed and declared in presence of Arthur Hall Jeremiah L. Rees John Bowen At a County court held for Nelson County on Tuesday the 13 day of May 1800. They lived in Nelson County until around 1805 when they moved to Gallatin Co., Ky. As Beall's brother Charles owned a considerable amount of land in that area. Beall and Nancy owned 196 acres of land on Corn and Looms Creek in Gallatin, which they sold in 1807 and moved to Hardin County Kentucky. Their eldest daughter, Lydia was married July 14, 1807 to William H. Scott, Son of George. their other children married in Hardin Co. Beall died in 1822 leaving a will that his property be sold, he owned 582 acres on Cedar Creek, and a portion used to purchase property for Nancy. It is possible that Nancy died shortly after Beall because there is a guardian bond naming Abraham VanMatre as guardian of the youngest daughter, Corrina. ii. MARY STIGLER, m. RAWSON. iii. There's a Virginia hancery Record about Joseph Stigler vs. George Stigler that shows all the elationships of children of James Stigler and Mildred. 1. [VAFAUQUI] BENJAMIN F. McCONCHIE and GEORGE W. McCONCHIE were BROTHERS
    2. Amanda E. Douglass
    3. Artie, Yes. For a fact, Benjamin F. McConchie who was buried at Warrenton Cemetery was a BROTHER of George W. McConchie who married Mary J. Bray. There's a Virginia Chancery Record about Joseph Stigler vs. George Stigler that shows all the relationships of children of James Stigler and Mildred. I used this record to prove that Elizabeth Stigler m. Robert King McConchie and that they were parents of our George W. McConchie and it shows that Benjamin F. McConchie was also a son by Robert King McConchie Benjmain F. McConchie was the only brother to our George W. McConchie. Brothers of Robert King McConcihe who married Elizabeth Stigler were William A. Mcconchie and Alexander McConchie. [June's line is William A. McConchie] Remember we were so puzzled and thought that since Alexander McConchie was a witness on marriage of George W. McConchie to Mary J. Bray that Alexander must have been the father of our George. Nope. He was an UNCLE of our George. Bless June because we went round and round for a year before we nailed this. I have proven Elizabeth Stigler's great grandmother DAR Partriot Mary/Martha Stigler for DAR. I have all the records. Furthermore, I think Mary/Martha Stigler was a Harrison. I think she was VERY LIKELY the daughter of Richard Harrison who married 1st Elizabeth Woffendall. DAR Patriot Mary/Martha used her name in ONE single document as "MARTHA" and then turned around said "MARY" thus the confusion about her name. Had I not had this one document, I never would have been able to prove this. I have the document that showed this and she was the MOTHER of BENJAMIN STIGLER who had the son JAMES STIGLER who married MILDRED [REEDS] BROWN who was nee MILDRED REEDS, d/o of SAMUEL REEDS and JAEL [Undrewood] Shippey. [I have Charlene REEDS-EBELING to thank for so much of these records regarding lines back to GEORGE MOTT of Northen Neck.] I haven't gotten too far into this but below daughter MARTHA is who I think married JAMES STIGLER whose grandson James Stigler m. Mildred [Reeds] Brown. Robert Harrison, born in old Rappahannock County north of the river in North Farnham Parish, Oct. 23 1674, the son of Andrew and Thomasine Harrison (from North Farnham Parish Register) Old Rappahannock County was divided in 1692 into Essex county, that part South of the Rappahannock River and Richmond County that part north of the river. Robert married 1st Elizabeth Woffendall but was married 2nd to a MARY per his will. Will of Robert Harrison, Richmond county will book, 4 p. 148. Mentions wife Mary; daughters Pricillia, Martha and Mary; all under age; sons Robert, Aaron, William and George: brother Andrew. [He would have been an UNCLE to Martha.] Son Robert is bequeathed 100 A. and son Aaron 50 A. given him by will of Adam Woffendall. (evidently sons by his first marriage.) Three daughters given to wife and in case of her death or marriage to brother Andrew Harrison. Executors, wife and son Robert. Dated June 25, 1719-20. Proved April 6, 1720. Richmond County, Virginia; WILL BOOK 4, 1717-1725 p.148 - Robert HARRISON, will; 25 Jan 1719, 6 Apr 1720 son William 50 ac. of land part of 150 ac. given me by Adam WOFFENDALL; son Robert half the tract I now live on when he reaches age 18; the other half to my wife Mary and after her death, to son George; son Aaron the other 100 ac. of the land given me by Adam WOFFENDALL when he reaches age 18; daus. Priscilla, Martha, and Mary; bro. Andrew HARRISON to be trustee and overlooker of my est; ex: wife and son Robert; wits: Aaron THORNLEY, Richard WILKINS. (Robert HARRISON mar. (1) Elizabeth WOFFENDALL and (2) Mary (7) . MAC, p.89.] I think above AARON THORNLEY was married to MARY BERRY and was below person. King George County Inventories; pp. 117-118 We the Subscribers being first sworn before JONATHAN GIBSON Gent. have inventoried & appraised all the Estate of AARON THORNLEY deced in money that was presented to our view by MARY THORNLEY the administratrix .. items valued and totalled. 1 194.16.10 .. includes two negro men and two negro women, a white woman servant, a white servant boy (appraised to t 109.10.0) .. 20 geese .. made by appraisers JAMES ROBERTSON, ROBERT ELLISTON. RICHARD TANKERSLEY At a court held 7th March 1729 MARY THORNLEY returned this inventory .. same is admitted to record. Bond of MARY THORNLEY administratrix of AARON THORNLEY deced in the sum of 300 pounds dated 3rd January 1728 (1729). Bondsmen William Peck. Robt. Strother. Robt. Peck. James Stigler and Mary/Martha also had son Samuel Stigler who was brother of Benjamin Stigler whose son James Stigler m. Mildred [Reeds] Brown. Note Robert Stringfellow. He married Catherine Stigler who was AUNT of James Stigler m. Mildred Reeds whose daughter Elizabeth 'Betsy' Stigler m. Robert King McConchie. 1764 King George County, Virginia - Indenture of James & Martha Stigler giving land to son Samuel Stigler. Witnesses: Robert Peck; Robert Stringfellow; and Joseph Stigler. James Hughes 2006-05-18 21:17:05 My Southern Family http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mysouthernfamily/myff/d0051/g0000081.html "The will of Adam Woffendall, dated 25 April 1703 and proved 7 June 1704 bequeathed to each of his "sons" Harrison and Strother 150 acres of land; this phraseology is deceiving as subsequent records assure us that the legatees were his two sons-in-law Robert Harrison and Benjamin Strother (16??-1752) who was sheriff of Richmond County in 1717. The land of Benjamin Strother fell into King George Countv in 1721 and those records abound with genealogical material in regard to the Strother family." Below JAMES STIGLER was married to MARY/MARTHA who I think was a daughter of Robert Harrison and Elizabeth Woffendall. I think below GEOGE HARRISON was a brother of MARY/MARTHA STIGLER and I think Benjamin Strother was a son in law of ADAM WOFFENDALL. 1749 King George County, Virginia - Inventory/estate for George HARRISON. Amanda ==================== p. 7 "The old Jones building in which ORLANDO JONES kept store is still standing on the old home place premises in the same spot. After the death of ORLANDO, it seems that MALORY SMITH who married DELIA EDWARDS ran a store there followed by a man named HIGGINS. HIGGINS was followed by WARD McCONCHIE, son of ROBERT McCONCHIE. They moved up form near the Rappahannock River and made living quarters above the store until they moved across the field witin the house knwosn as the BILL TULLOSS place. The house was built fo rhim by BROADUS JONES. The house had been occupied by JAMES HOLMES called JUDD, who was the son of JAMES and MANDY HOLMES. JAMES was a brother of WILLIAM HOLMES. A son of WARD McCONCHIE owns the HOLMES place today. There also lived in the BILL TULLOS house a family by the name of JUDD who moved from the Shanandoah Valley. Mr. HAMILTON JUDD probably lived in several places on the way there. After WARD McCONCHIE gave up his store on account of failing health, he bought the late JAMES and MANDY HOLMES' place just little ways down the road from SUMERDUCK. HENRY C. and BOYER JONES took the store over. HENRY was a son of BROADUS JONES and HENRY's brother." page 9.... 3. Yes, your cousin is reading this. C. Jones and several McConchie's appear on the 1878 Fauquier map available here: http://www.fauquiercounty.gov/government/departments/gis/index.cfm?action=historicalmaps Select the map, go to the southern end of the county and make it big. You'll see them. This is also the general location where Alex McConchie purchased land from Knox. > Yeah Estelle! > Thank you. > All this just seems to be connecting. 3. Hi Amanda, On June 17th I posted information on James Allen, Thomas Allen, Henry Field and Esther his wife. This is my line. If you didn't get the information let me know and I will send you what I posted. We toured the Summer Duck area looking for the McConchie Cemetery with the help of a local man who is a distant McConchie relative. He took us to the place the Scheel map showed. There was Embry's buried there. He didn't know of the McConchie cemetery, he called his Mother and an Aunt. They didn't know either. Barbara
