Pat, I agree with Pat, everyone needs to be specific about the date range and by consulting the archives can determine if your surname has already been done. Hope all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Chocy
I have done some work on Thomas Massie. I think he was the son of Edward Massie. I cannot access the file right now but I do have quite a bit on Thomas. Contact me off line with what you know. I agree with Margaret that names are essential in the subject. But PLEASE, include more information than just the names in your message. Dates are vital!! And it wouldn't hurt to indicate if you already have information from some of the usual Fauquier references. Many of you post the same surnames with each roll call, and it is a waste of others time to check their references and type the information that you may already have received. The more information you give, the more you are likely to get. Pat Duncan p.duncan@worldnet.att.net
I am researching the Suddueth/Sudduth/Suddeth/Suddoth families. The line goes from: Isaac Beverley Suddueth Joseph F. Suddueth Harrison Suddueth John Suddueth John is a brick wall for me. I need any information on any of these I can find. Blessings to all the faithful helpers on this wonderful list. Happy Thanksgiving, Faye Marshall
Would folks please put the names of their interest in the subject line please. It helps to select the mail I want to read. Otherwise I usually delete roll calls without reading. I am on a number of lists as are many others and roll calls flood the mail box so I just delete those that have no subject or names to relate to. I know many busy people do likewise. Some files have his father as Daniel, also born in Westmoreland, but I haven't researched that far back myself. Beyond Daniel, I would think you're looking at England, but from ca. 1670 on probably the same general area of Virginia. Karen
I believe my Hitt family originated from the Germanna Colony, and it was a descendant, Sarah HITT (c. 1825-1879) that married Stephen Julious FLETCHER (c 1810-????) in 1846 in Fauquier Co. VA. Sarah's parents may be Steven HITT and Sara LOW. Daniel WINES (1822-1873) married Mary Catherine KEIRNES (1833-????) in 1856 in Fauquier Co. VA. Daniel's parents may be John WINES and Jaminsa EDWARDS Catherine's parents may be William KEIRNES and Catherine HEFLIN I do not have the parents of William MOORE and his wife Adelaide Lincoln CARTER. My great-grandmother, Dora Mae MOOORE (1888-1938)was their daughter. I'm still trying to document some of the relationships so if anyone knows of any of these couples please contact me! Happy thanksgiving to you all, I am especially grateful for this List. I am thankful for our good Jim and his commitment to us. I am also thankful for the kindnesses of June, Margaret, Chocky, and all of you who share so freely. This is one of the best L's I know. William Flowers is on the 1759 tax list and the last entry Alcock notes for him is 1788. There are also Mary, John, and Andrew Flowers noted in Alcock. He also includes a William and Willis Flowers from Andrew's 1788 tax list, but this is an error--William Willis was in Andrew's household in 1798. Does anyone else have a Flowers from this area in his/her line? I think Andrew may be the Andrew who appears lin the 1810 cenus in Old Pendleton district SC next to a younger Andrew Flowers--and that this younger Andrew moved Gwinnett Co. GA by 1830. William, the elder, would appear to be the father of these Flowers. I have the references from John Alcock's "Fauquier Families"--but does anyone have the full record of any of those references or some other indication of Flowers in Fauquier that Alcock overlooked? Note also that there are Flowerees in Fauquier--but this is a completely different family! Also researching in Fauquier: Daniel Greenwood/Elinor Fields. Re: Coons: Is the Joseph Coons/Coones in Culpeper from Fauquier? In 1784 tax list I found Broderick Mason in his household in Culpeper--and in 1783 Broderick was listed in Fauquier, in his own household, but under 21. Just curious--don't think there's a connection beyond the fact that Broderick worked for Joseph Coons--but one never knows! Karen Dale
