    3. Dear Fauquier County, Virginia Genealogist, Some members of the list - well just three people are receiving unsubscribe notices. When I go to the page that shows all the people on the list their name appears several times as being members of the list in spite of the fact that they are receiving unsubscribe messages. Perhaps the program is just trying to clean itself. Rest assured that we want everyone on the list. Tonight I unsubscribed names being very careful to leave each name on the list at one time. Please do not panic. I believe that I have to do this to solve some of the problems that have been occuring. If you do not receive messages in the next 24 hours please resubscribe. thanks for understanding. Jim Burgess Fauquier County, Virginia USGENWEB

    1. Missing Elements in Queries [Roll Calls]
    2. Dear listers, I personally dislike roll calls on the internet and in genealogical publications. Submitters (listers) give us a lot of names, but with no dates. We also must assume that the events in these persons' lives took place in Fauquier Co., which was formed from Prince William Co. A query without dates is useless to anyone who may want to help you!!! Come on, fellow listers, give us some dates. There was supposedly a format suggested by rootsweb for roll calls. I have not seen it cited for quite some time. Roll calls don't do a thing for me--I have too many common names in my dad's lineage. As for my Germanna descendants (First Colony), many of whom are found in early Fauquier Co. records, I prefer to use the Germanna Colonies rootsweb as there is a great deal of history, but mostly for those Second Germanna Colonists who came later ca 1717 and settled in what is now Culpeper Co. But these folks intermarried!!! And many migrated after the Revolution to Kentucky and southward. E.W.Wallace

    1. McNISH/KIRK/LEWIS/DEANE/BRENT/MCGEORGE/McIVER/MOORHEAD
    2. Roll Call answer: I am researching David McNish & his wife Elizabeth Lewis. David inherited land from uncle(?) William Kirk in 1780's through his mother who was back in Scotland. William Kirk was murdered in Fauquier Co. and his widow Elizabeth married a Payne. David McNish had property on South Run listed as Snow Hill in 1815 Landowners book. He was deceased by 1815 and had three children: 1. Horatio McNish - who married Susan Dean(e) of Arlington & moved to Franklin, Tennessee in 1830's. His son William became confederate postmaster in Nashville during the Civil War after being discharged at the Union postmaster. He is my ancestral line. 2. William McNish - never married & stayed in Warrenton area. He was postmaster in Warrenton at one time, was at the Fauquier White Sulphur Springs & is listed in Keith family papers 3. Mary (Polly) McNish who married a Pickett Elizabeth (Lewis) McNish was the daughter of Zachariah(s) Lewis of Prince William Co. and Mary Brent (b.1732 - daughter of Charles Brent and Hannah Innes of Stafford Co.).Elizabeth has two sisters: Ann Blackwell married to David Blackwell and Hannah Brent. In his 1796 will Zachariah(s) Lewis will also mentions grandchildren with the names of Mary Lewis Allwell(Altwell?), Lewis Moorhead, Presly Moorhead, and Geroge William Brent Blackwell. I am also looking for a John McGeorge who was appointed guardian of David & Elizabeth McNish's children. He may be a relative of David's mother in Scotland. His mothers maiden name has been spelled as McIver/McIvor/McIoar and McGeorge. Thanks for starting a roll call!! Happy Holidays! Christine McNish
